RULES & REGULATIONS OF TARANGIRE: Just like any national park and game park in Tanzania, Tarangire national park has rules and regulations that govern the park and are set to ensure the safety of every visitor or traveler who enters the gates of Tarangire national park and for the safety of the wildlife and vegetation in Tarangire national park.

Approximately 2-hours drive from Arusha town, Tarangire national park can easily be accessed making it one of the most visited parks in the country famously known for its high African elephant concentration and the baobab trees.

RULES & REGULATIONS OF TARANGIRE

Below are the rules and regulations of Tarangire national park, follow them for not only your safety but that of the wild environment around you, and to also avoid unnecessary fines while on your safari.
Note that the park gates are open strictly from 6:00am to 6:00pm. With the exemption of Night game drives that start at 8:00pm, for which you need to get prior authorization. So, plan accordingly.

  • To avoid accidents in the park, maintain a speed limit of 50km/hour while on your game drives in Tarangire national park.
  • Avoid making unnecessary noise while in the park like hooting or raving of car engines, clapping, making animals sounds. This disturbs the animals’ natural behaviors.
  • The animals in Tarangire national park have a right of way in their home. Always stop at a safe distance and let them cross the road then you continue.
  • During game drives, stay in your tour vehicle at all times.
  • Do not get too close to the animals or feed them at anyone point.
    Stay on the designated track while on game drives, do not drive off track.
  • Do not light any unsupervised fires while in the park and during game drives, smoking in the park is not allowed.
  • Put out camp fires safely completely when camping in the park.
  • Do not litter the park. Help conserve the environment for future generations.
  • Pets and firearms are not permitted in the park.
  • Do not take or displace anything from the park, plants, bones or rocks.
  • Only camp and picnic at authorized safe places in the park.
