DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: To Tarangire national park – Game drive
Your 5-day safari driver guide will pick you from the airport or at your hotel in Arusha and drive you to Tarangire national park, just 2 and a half hours from Arusha town. Embark on a game drive on arrival in the home of giant baobab trees towering above the flora and fauna of the park and also home to huge elephant herds. Other wildlife sightings include zebras, giraffes, hippos, impalas, monkeys, buffalos and gazelles among many beautiful bird species. Breakoff for a picnic lunch at a safe spot within the wilderness and then continue exploring the park visiting the Tarangire River and the swamps for more birdlife and animal life sightings. Overnight at your safari camp / lodge.
Day 2: To Serengeti national park – Evening game drive
After your breakfast, exit Tarangire national park and drive further North to the famous home of the wildebeest migration, Serengeti national park. You will have lunch enroute and on arrival in Serengeti, embark on an introductory game drive to experience a true African wilderness in the vast plains of Serengeti. Overnight at your safari camp / lodge in Serengeti national park.
Day 3: Serengeti national park – Full day exploration
On this day, we explore the vast endless grassland and savannah Serengeti plains driving to different regions to maximize your wild game spotting. Keep your camera rolling for there is a lot to see in Serengeti. Get to experience the wildebeest migration at whatever stage you find it during your visit. You will spot lots of wildebeests, zebras, lions, hyenas, zebras, giraffes, gazelles, buffalos, rhinos, mongoose, warthogs, jackals, cheetahs among others. Optional visit to a Maasai community later in the day.
Day 4: To Ngorongoro conservation area – Crater drive
Optional pre-sunrise 1-hour hot air balloon trip over the Serengeti plains, a memorable wildlife experience. Exit Serengeti national park early morning after breakfast and with packed hot food, drive to Ngorongoro conservation area where you will drive straight to the crate rim and descend to the floor of the world famous Ngorongoro crater for a game drive. About 30,000 animals inhabit this vast caldera providing great sightings including the Big 5 and many other animals.
Lions, black rhinos, buffalos, leopards, elephants, hippos, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, waterbucks, hyenas and more including lots of birds like flamingos always found around the soda lake in the crater. Have your picnic lunch near the hippo pool and after exit the crater and drive to your lodge, take a detour to Olduvia Gorge and then continue to your lodge for dinner and an overnight.
Day 5: To Lake Manyara – End of safari
Early morning departure from Ngorongoro conservation area after your breakfast. To Lake Manyara national park, home to the tree climbing lions of Tanzania. Explore the park on a morning game drive. Looking out for the lions, buffalos, elephants, hippos, wildebeests, elands, impalas, baboons, monkeys, flamingos, kingfishers, African fish eagle among others. Later on after your exploration, you will be transferred back to Arusha marking the end of your 5-day safari.
